Narcan Training

On No. 6 and 8, the Human Services and Addictions Counseling Club sponsored Narcan Training for students currently working in clinical settings, as well as students entering internships in the January. The training was offered by the Renssselaer County Department of Health.

The department would also like to acknowledge that both presenters on Nov. 6 were graduates of HVCC. Emily Purtell is the Public Health Planner for the Rensselaer County Department of Health. She received her associate’s degree in Human Services and went on to receive degrees from SUNY Albany in Social Work and the in Public Health from the University of New England. Her co-presenter DJ Gitto also is a graduate of HVCC’s Criminal Justice Program. Additionally, he has a bachelor’s degree in Criminal Justice from SUNY Plattsburgh. He is currently the Public Health Opioid Analyst for Renssselaer County.

The training on Nov, 8 was conducted by Nicole Pollay, administrative assistant to the Public Health Director and Kathleen Lill, COVID-19 coordinator and physician’s assistant, both of the Rensselaer County Health Department.

The training was well received by all who attended and provided a great deal of important information regarding the current opioid crisis in our county.

A special thank you to Rensselaer County Health Department.
